v0 by Vercel (v0.dev) Review
v0 by Vercel (v0.dev) is an AI generative UI platform built for frontend developers and designers. It turns natural language prompts and Figma mockups into clean React components.
The system uses shadcn/ui primitives and Tailwind CSS utility classes to build accessible interfaces. Every prompt generates modular, readable code that you can copy directly into your project.
Developers test interfaces in an interactive in-browser compiler before deploying. With native Vercel integration, you can publish working fullstack web applications with one click.
In-depth review: what v0 by Vercel (v0.dev) actually does
Checked 28 Oct 2026v0 (v0.app) is Vercel's AI builder for web interfaces and full-stack apps. You describe a screen or flow in a prompt, and v0 generates a Next.js app that uses React, Tailwind CSS, and shadcn/ui components. The result runs in a live preview that you can edit visually, sync to GitHub, or publish to Vercel.
v0 is aimed at developers, designers, product managers, and founders who work in the React ecosystem. It also offers an iOS app, templates, and a free tier for trying prompts. The paid plans are Plus, Business, and Enterprise.
Features worth knowing
v0 turns a text prompt, screenshot, or Figma link into a working interface. It can build several screens and connect them as one flow.
Design mode lets you select an element in the live preview and change type, color, spacing, borders, and shadows. Applying edits creates a new version in the chat.
Paste a Figma file or frame link and v0 reads pages, frames, tokens, text, and assets. The integration requires a paid v0 plan and a connected Figma account.
v0 deploys projects to Vercel and gives each project a stable production URL. GitHub-backed projects can publish through a pull request.
Is v0 free?
Yes. The Free plan costs $0 and includes 7 messages per day, deployment to Vercel, Design Mode, GitHub sync, and access to templates. It does not include access to all models or monthly credits.
Plus costs $30 per user per month on the pricing page, which shows $90 crossed out. It includes $30 of monthly credits per user and $2 of free daily credits. Business costs $100 per user per month and adds training opt-out by default. Enterprise pricing is custom.
Prices are listed in U.S. dollars and exclude VAT, GST, and other taxes. Users can buy additional credits beyond the monthly allowance, shared across a team.
Does v0 generate React code?
v0 generates a Next.js app with React, Tailwind CSS, and shadcn/ui by default. The Code tab lets you browse the file tree, edit files, search code, and copy or download individual files. New projects start from that stack, and you can bring a custom design system.
To move a whole project, connect it to GitHub and push the repository. v0 also supports deploying through Vercel, including preview deployments from working branches.
v0 can run terminal commands, connect to databases, and add API integrations while it builds. The generated code stays editable, so a developer can take over at any point.
Can v0 import a Figma design?
Yes. You can paste a Figma file or frame link, or use the import menu, without a plugin or the desktop app. v0 reads pages, frames, design tokens, layout, text, components, and assets, then builds the screens you name.
Figma import is only available on paid v0 plans. How much v0 can read is limited by your Figma plan and seat type, not by v0. Large files work better when you name the page or frame in the prompt.
Figma sets a rate limit on how much data your account can read. If v0 reaches that limit, it tells you and continues with the data it already has until the limit resets.
What are the limits of Design mode?
Design mode works on the live preview and requires the latest preview runtime and the latest chat version. It is not available on read-only chats or mobile viewports. You can combine panel edits with a written instruction before applying them.
The panel covers typography, color, background, layout, border, opacity, radius, shadow, and text content. For structural changes, you can type an instruction and v0 attaches a screenshot of the selected element.
Design mode is Tailwind-aware when the project uses Tailwind. Applying edits sends them to the chat and creates a new version, so you can review the diff or revert. Pending edits are lost if you leave the chat without applying them.
Limitations to weigh first
- –The Free plan allows 7 messages per day and does not include Figma import or access to all models.
- –Figma import requires a paid plan, and Figma's own plan and seat limits cap how much of a file v0 can read.
- –Design mode requires the latest preview runtime and latest chat version and is unavailable on read-only chats and mobile viewports.
